What started out as a thrown-together band that formed to perform at a one-off tribute to the LA band X, has morphed into a full-on side project for the member of Duotang/Novillero, The Sorrels and two members of the Windups/Telepathic Butterflies. Anchored by Rod Slaughter’s distinct bass tones, Jacques Dubois’ galloping drums, Rob Patchol’s scratchy post-rock guitar and the interplay between Jill Clapham and Slaughter’s vocals, Winnipeg’s Bloc Parents manage to wear its influences on its sleeve without being overly referential.
Available as a 4 song EP on Bandcamp and Spotify, the group will hit the stage in July at the Blue Note.
