It looks like the streaming scammers may have set their sights on local political thrashers Propagandhi. This live recording from Paris popped up on the streaming service but doesn’t seem to come up on the band’s official profile. A ten-song split recording with Spanish outfit Cria Cuervous, it appears from this old Punk.org article the recording was originally put out on French label Diabolik twenty years ago.
One disappointing fact about the band’s former label G7 Welcoming Committee Records being its own digital outlet early on, the label’s catalogue has not made it to Spotify, Bandcamp or Apple Music. It’s one of the major missing independent music catalogues online that should be easily available but unfortunately isn’t. You’ll still manage to find some releases that bands have released on their own or other labels have put out but their importance is not to be overlooked.
G7 Welcoming Committee Records was a collectively-owned-and-operated record label located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Between 1997 and 2010, we released 59 musical and political artifacts in various formats by 31 bands and individuals. For a time, we also embarrassed ourselves by keeping up a blog and dabbling in podcasting.
Unfortunately, you can only find one I Spy song on Spotify, Half the Population, which needs to change. YouTube obviously has more options, but a Bandcamp relaunch of the G7 catalogue would be something I could get behind.
